Shadow is still my baby darling. And has been for the past three years. I wake up and go to sleep with her snuggled at my toes every day. She’s my alarm clock too! Waking me before the sun comes up so I can let her out of the house to pee or poo.. and then comes back in about 15 minutes. It’s always the perfect amount of time for me to make a cup of tea or coffee until she gets back. If I don’t let her in she’ll meow and scratch at my window for hours. One time, I fell asleep and woke up to her clinging on to my window screen. I don’t know how long she was holding on, but when I got her down, her paws seemed to limp, and her voice grew weak and raspy. I never let this happen ever again. I got her during a really lonely point in my life, and whenever I’d crawl under my sheets or pillows to cry or scream, she always happens to find that little part of skin peeking out of the blanket to lick at whether it be my knees.. or my ankles… And it always calms me down every time. Sometimes I feel crazy catching myself talking to her and venting to her about problems. Or all the times I start dancing randomly and ending up laughing so hard because I end up seeing the expression of her face after watching me the whole time. There are countless times where I wanted to be gone. Of course family and friends were a good reason from keeping me from doing it, but knowing that my cat, an innocent creature that may never understand why I left, or where I’ve gone. Imagining her wait at my window or door everyday wondering why I’m not here anymore, thinking she did something wrong, it breaks my heart so much. I love my cat because no matter what happens in my life, she’ll always be there to cheer me up when things don’t go right. Watching her carelessly sleep and purr all day without a worry about anything, she makes me so happy. I love you Shadow, and I’m so thankful to have you.<3
